Yes, I Was Talking About Advertlets


For those who had read my previous entry, you would know what i am talking about. Those who didn't, please CLICK HERE.

Initially i did not want to mention the company's name but i found out that many others had the same problems with Advertlets. People had been emailing me asking me to post up the email. So here it is (i had edited it but the original content is still intact).


EMAIL NO. 1 (auto-reply from Advertlets' support centre)

After few days and still no reply, i had filled in the contact form on the contact page asking for assistance.

After another 1 week and still no response whatsoever.



EMAIL NO. 2 (According to Adverlets, i could contact Josh (the CEO) personally)

Hi Josh,

This msg was on my earnings page:
"Your account cash out function has been disabled! Please contact our support team for further information, thank you."

May i know what happened? Actually i had submitted a ticket to Advertlets support page on 14th Nov and another email to your support few days ago but there's no news at all from your side. I'm hoping you can help me out here. Thanks.

To whoever this may concern,

I am very frustrated with advertlets right now. I had been trying to get your advice since 2 weeks ago but to no avail. There is no feedback or response from your side AT ALL.

My cashout function had been disabled 2 weeks ago and i had submitted a ticket through your support centre for advice but after 1 week there is still no response. Then i had filled in the 'contact us' form but again no response. Then i had emailed to Josh Lim and again NO RESPONSE!

Frankly speaking i am quite disappointed in your customer service. In any case that you have a problem or need time to investigate my problem, you should have inform me so i wouldn't be waiting wondering what happened....

We do not disable cash out functions for no reason. The only reason the system would have automatically disabled your account is because:- You have been clicking on your own ads more than 200 times!

You should worry less about advertising for free...than say, facing legal action. We will consider whether or not to ban your account permanently (do you have anything to say?), but either way, you will not be compensated for fraudulent earnings. Frankly, we’re disappointed too.

After receiving that email, i my blood level went up like nobody's business. I replied in an equally rude manner which i am not going to post here. It's too darn long.

I do not expect everyone to drop from Advertlets after reading this coz the fact is there are lotsa people earning from the ads. However, i am quite frustrated to learn that i am not the only person that had suffered from their ridiculous customer service. What is the point of setting up a support centre and asking users to email to them when they do not answer? *i wonder do they always ignore customers' email without telling them why?

What more is to be accused of cheating. *puh leez! I am not so free as to click on it 200 times! I am also not stupid coz if i did cheat i wouldn't go and complaint to you. This coming from a CEO is blardy rude.

The fact that Advertlets system has bugs and the stats are not accurate is widely known. I'm pretty sure that Advertlets caters for I.E. while most of us users are using Firefox. Meaning when someone click on the Advertlets ads and then click 'Backspace' it will auto go back to the ads generating 2 clicks instead of one. If some ignorant person keeps clicking the 'Backspace' wondering why it's not going back then that person is in a hell lot of trouble.

I had dropped the Advertlets ads from my blog immediately after receiving the rude email. Btw, i had just checked my Adverlets account, it's generating impressions even though i had removed the ads. *WTF?!! and they're accusing me of fraud?!

For those who had not cashed out yet, please take note that i only found out these problems after i submitted for cash-out. So, my advice is to test out the cash-out function right after you reach your RM100 target.

I can tolerate bad service to certain extend but to tolerate someone who doesn't own up to his fault i can't.

What's more interesting is if you can monitor, after 24 hours, 36 and 48 are the impressions still generating ?

Then, we'll be able to see if there's a darker truth to it.

Anon>> Good for you. I hope you get paid ya :). What is your average traffic? if it's not over 150 perday i think RM20++ per day is alot! Hmm... but what do i know... yeah i heard alot of ppl complaining about checques not received or late payment or whatever but no response from them too...

If for no good reason it still generating impressions, I am sensing sth sinister from the system...which it's subscribers deserves to know..

hmmm ah thank goodness I've not gone with Advertlets, support Tim and Nuffnang! lol. but I can't imagine the CEO replying like that.

It might probably be a computer generated message if it's the same for many other people.

I sense.. cash flow problems for Advertlets.

I've also heard numerous people saying Advertlets pay-out is higher than Nuffang - but only for a short time. They release that as the amount in your account gets closer to the minimum payout amount your earnings get less and less.

So basically they are putting ads up in the hope of not paying anyone.

Looks like their newest tactics are missing cheques and blaming click fraud.

Good luck to anyone using Advertlets on getting your money!

Josh Lim here from Advertlets. This is an interesting discussion, though definitely not going to be one which is too friendly.

As uncomfortable as it is, I believe that it is better for me to address some of the concerns here as your questions deserve answers, in the interest of honesty.


Kuan: I understand your frustration, but we have very valid reasons to disable your account permanently. And understand that we have to set various levels of priority for our support requests.

We would not accuse our members of click fraud in public, but seeing that you have posted what was a personal e-mail from me meant to be received by you only, and that you are accusing us of various wrong doings you have now forced my hand to discuss this publicly.

If you are confident of your position, we would like to invite you to post screenshots of your daily earnings for the public to view. And maybe you doubt our capabilities to detect fraud, but here's a simple test:

Look at the difference between the number of clicks under your account for daily earnings for 4th Oct 2007 and 03 Oct 2007 and you will know what I mean. Its very obvious, and we actually see more than those details listed there.

And, I never accused you of being so free to be clicking on the ads yourself...the pattern suggests an automated system actually.

I could have been more polite, and I'm sorry for that, but it doesn't change what you did, and why we did what we did. We don't have anything personal against you, but the system has to be fair so that all can benefit.

If anything, we apologize for not confirming that your account was banned sooner, I believe that was also part of your issue. Cheers.

Freethinker: Despite our personal differences, I believe you're a mostly reasonable person, and I think you'll appreciate this explanation - There were between 1-3 impressions a day for a few days after the code was removed, which is largely caused by previously cached versions of the page being loaded on some visitors computers. As long as a cached version of the page is available somewhere, it will generate some impressions if loaded.

really nvr know it is actually like that...actually internet business especially ads business, there are too many things which the ads provider had to consider to try to satisfy both ads client and bloggers, unfortunately there won't be anyway that can safisty both party, so i understand the hardtimes which he might have, but...

having those kinda harsh email is really a very unwise act from a CEO, CEO especially for service field should give people a friendly impression, if josh in this case if approach you in a proper and polite way, i dun think things will gone this worst, not anything in this world which can't be settle.

That email from Josh is really unbelievable. Never knew anyone would do that to alienate clients.

Frankly speaking I don't know what is the tactic employed by Advertlets but it does seems like there are quite a few complaints.

We'll be very interested to see proofs of the alleged click fraud and any "LEGAL ACTION" that is to be taken.

wow... i didn't know that there was so many people who are in the same situation as me... i am facing the same problem as you... i also had to email them zillion times before i got a reply, a standard "we will get back to you" but they never got back to me, the only thing i saw was, not getting my both check of 200++ but "cash out function disable"

i didn't put a post on my blog, as i didn't want to announce this to others.. maybe i can consider putting a post now, since there are quite a few that are unhappy too..

neway, most problably they suspect ur doing fraudulent clicks on your ads that's y it's disabled. similar to my case.

if i were you i'll just drop the ads and move on. it's useless talking sense to them. they will say ur doing fraud and they will consider to ban you from their company or you can chose to continue the service until they decide your not doing fraud and enable your function.

but logically, considering that you are not doind any fraud at all at the first place, even if they enable your cash out function few months from now, they might say ur doing fraud again the next time. i donno if it's a bug in their system or are they trying to get away with payment but... oh u know what i mean lar...

which is largely caused by previously cached versions of the page being loaded on some visitors computers. As long as a cached version of the page is available somewhere, it will generate some impressions if loaded.

Why didnt anyone question the logic of that statement?

I email them at 27 Nov then i only get my reply at 3 Dec.

Then saying "We're checking your account for a few irregular clicks"
i wonder how long they need to check for that "few clicks".

And i think my daily max click also wont reach 10 click. dunno wat they wan to check ....

so far they didn't suspend my payment, my payment still under unpaid status. but they spend quite long of time to release payment, wonder when i can get my payment... btw will they blame for click fraud again?

it was funny tat CEO coming out to explain... their payment really slow even i got adsense payment few round d...

Believe me, the CEO/MD of Advertlets - Josh Lim of Josh Lim and Associates is well known for being notorious and not living up to his word, pulling pranks and unethical stunts.

Many a time he has masqueraded to post "nice things" about himself. He tries to gain popularity by signing up for programs like Fear Factor (phew, he was knocked out after not being able to scale the Sunway Pyramid!).

wtf..... fine.. i replied the email said ok fine, just remove my account and no issues anymore. As they had been sending email to me saying there are alot invalid clicking and script running.. but when checking back on my report from another sites for the traffic it seems ok and per day impression is not tat much.. impression around 1xx and earlinig around less than RM 1 per day..
damn..............

now using nuffnang onli :D

halo..im so pissed off with advertlets..damn.they never paid me since april 2008! the status said SENT,but i havent receive any.then i checked out couple of months later,still UNPAID.FYI now i have more than RM1000 in my account.but,ive just removed advertlets ads on my site after months of waiting (6 months).the real problem is they keep on beating around the bush.support system sucks too.no matter how much you contact them.lastly they just ignored you! damn.

i know,they gave lame excuse of click fraud.you know what? ive received thousand bucks from Google Adsense without having single problem related to click fraud.we all know Google has a very reputable plus advanced technologies to detect click fraud.
